UPDATE JULY 13, 2020   (9)

Status on COVID-19 in Croatia changes daily. Today there are 1.142 active cases, with 132 people being hospitalized. Since the beginning of the pandemic (end of February 2020) 94.175 people were tested and total of 3.775 cases of COVID-19 were recorded – 2.514 people fully recovered and 119 passed away.

Can we still enter Croatia freely?

Croatia decided to tighten the border crossing for certain passengers. This refers to self-isolation measures meaning that health supervision with 14 days quarantine/self-isolation is mandatory for all passengers entering the Republic of Croatia from third countries.
However, quarantine/self-isolation can be shortened to seven days if a passenger does a nasal and pharynx swab at his/her expense seven days after entering Croatia and gets a negative PCR test result for SARS-CoV-2.
Or in case you are traveling for tourism purposes you may enter Croatia without the obligation of self-isolation upon presentation of a negative nasal and pharynx swab test for SARS-CoV-2, not older than 48 hours (starting from the time of taking the swab until arrival at the border crossing), or with the obligation of 14 days quarantine/self-isolation if they do not have a negative PCR test.

Please bear in mind that EU nationals (irrespective of their place of residence), the Schengen area and Schengen associated countries, as well as members of their families and third-country nationals who are long-term residents under Council Directive 2003/109/EZ of 25 November 2003 on the status of long-term nationals of third countries and persons entitled to stay under other EU or national Directives or having national long-term visas, are exempt from above regulations.

For more detailed information, please visit official government site.

UPDATE JULY 02, 2020   (8)

Number of active cases of COVID-19 in Croatia had risen from under 10 persons recorded two weeks ago, to 647 persons, making it a daily average of 42 new persons recorded.

Which nationalities can enter Croatia freely?

Recently the EU Council adopted a recommendation on gradual lifting of the temporary restrictions for certain countries. That means that now not only those 10 countries mentioned in ‘Update June 06’ can freely enter Croatia, but also all EU/EEA nationals and persons with permanent residence in EU/EEA country (Including Great Britain, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. Residents of Andora, Monaco, San Marino and the Vatican are considered to be EU residents for this purpose).

Third country nationals still have some restrictions – visit to Croatia can only be approved for business or tourism reasons. The EU Council will periodically (according to weekly situation of COVID-19 cases) give recommendations for which third countries EU countries will open their border to - at the moment recommended countries are: Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay, China. UPDATE JUNE 06, 2020   (6)

Status on COVID-19 in Croatia gets better every day. Today there are only 22 active cases. Out of 2.247 total cases since the beginning of the pandemic, 2.121 people have fully recovered and 101 deaths have been recorded to this day and there are no new cases in past three days.

Is it now easier to enter Croatia?

The measure of self-isolation is no longer imposed on all passengers on border crossing points when entering the Republic of Croatia.

Another ease on entering Croatia is that nationalities of 10 countries can enter Croatia under same conditions as the ones prior to COVID-19 outbreak (but complying with the measures prescribed by the Croatian Institute of Public Health). If you are a tourist from Czechia, Austria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia, Germany or Slovakia you are no longer required to provide any special reason for your entry (nor any documentation related to such). But you should still keep in mind the obligation to fill ‘EnterCroatia Form’ – by announcing your visit you will shorten your time on border crossing.

What about international air traffic to Croatia?

After domestic air traffic, few days ago international air traffic was established as well. At the moment Croatian has flights to/from Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Kopenhagen (Zagreb airport), and Zagreb-Split-Zagreb domestic flights. In the fallowing weeks additional destinations will be added so one could fly to Croatia also from Zürich, München, Sarajevo, London, Dublin, Rome, Bruxelles and Wien. Beside Split, Zagreb will also be connected with domestic airports in Dubrovnik, Zadar and Pula. To find exact information on domestic or international flights to / from Croatia please check the Croatian air transport company page.
