SPLIT – The city of Split has been sang by many local poets and singers as ‘the most beautiful city in the world’ and that is also the opinion of most local people. This claim finds a point of reference in fact that even Roman emperor Diocletian decided to build his palace on the very spot that later became the strict center of today’s city of Split. This, more than 1700 years old Palace still stands in all its glory as an ‘open museum’ presenting a blend of ancient monuments and modern bustling urban life. TROGIR – This best preserved European Romanesque Gothic historic town situated on small island connected to mainland and Čiovo island by bridges, has been under the UNESCO protection since 1979. KAŠTELA – Situated between Split, Solin and Trogir seven citadels stretch over 17 km long coast forming the town of Kaštela with a total population of 38.000 residents. Nowadays Kaštela are popular tourist destination because of vicinity of top spots such as Split, Trogir and Salona, and the fact that coastal promenade abounds with beaches. Even in old times Split and Trogir nobles found this place a perfect spot to build their fortified mansions from which some stand even now.
Entire bay of Kaštla is positioned beneath mountain Kozjak (highest peak Veli vrj 779 meters above Kaštel Gomilica). Once the most important for its agricultural and olive and grapes growing, today Kaštla area is defined by industrial zone on the beginning of the town and an airport on the end of the town. The ones in good condition could take a long walk through all seven Kaštela: Sućurac, Gomilica, Kambelovac, Lukšić, Stari, Novi, Štafilić or climb Mali Kozjak and soak spectacular views over Split islands.
OMIŠ– At the mouth of river Cetina beneath massive gorges that resemble to the Gate to inland stands proudly town of OmiÅ¡. Its nearly 15.000 citizens are proud of towns medieval pirate history. Two fortresses from that time, Mirabela and Fortica, are vivid reminder of agility, shrewdness and courage of the knights that ruled navigation in BraÄ Channel thanks to their fast paddle Sagittae ships. Nowadays, a scent of excitement can be found in adrenalin activities such as zip lining, rafting or kayaking down the Cetina’s river canyon.
A walk thought its picturesque alleys enables you to perceive some of gothic, renaissance and baroque churches and buildings. In case you are visiting Omiš at the time of Festival of Dalamtian Klapa, Pirate nights or Cultural Summer you will experience the true Mediterranean spirt.
MAKARSKA – Beneath Nature Park Biokovo, 60 kilometers southeast from Split, town Makarska takes central place of Makarska Riviera – 60 kilometers (37 miles) long line of 15 coastal settlements beneath Biokovo mountain range.
Thanks to natural protection of the mountain this area is characterized by typical Mediterranean climate that is meritorious for tourism development.
