LASTOVO ISLANDS NATURE PARK – Imagine yourself in a picturesque settlement, surrounded by dense forests and fertile fields on one side and high coastal steeps and underwater caves on the other…it feels like the time stopped and you can envisage fishermen unpacking fishing gear from their boats or salting fish. Trying to preserve such ambience the government declared Lastovo archipelago a nature park in 2006. Within beams of light reaching from four most prominent lighthouses Sušac, Tajan, Glavat and Sturga, on total land area of 53 km2 of which 41 km2 are of island Lastovo with only 5 settlements, 800 people found their home.
MLJET NATIONAL PARK – The most beautiful and the greenest of all Adriatic islands is Mljet. Its North-West part was proclaimed National Park in late 1960 covering the area of almost 5400 hectares (53km2). The island itself is 37 km long with total surface of 98 km2 (38 mil2). Most of its 1.100 inhabitants are oriented on agriculture cultivation of grapes and olives, and tourism.
This romantic island is ideal for couples, artists, and all other nature and history lovers. Experience the most beautiful sunsets and reveal the island secrets: extraordinary phenomenon of two deep bays filled with seawater known as Small Lake and Great Lake, Benedictine monastery on isle of St.Mary in Great Lake, Roman Palace, hidden caves, sank ancient ships and many more. If you are an athlete, you might even consider participating in triathlon Mljet Half Ironman that takes place every autumn. Whatever the reason of your visit is you can be peaceful while promenading unspoiled nature as snakes dwindled from the island due to introducing small Asian Mongoose in 1910.
